The foundation of conduct at Alice’s is people will always be treated with dignity and respect. Rules and regulations are the view of Alice’s and are enforced by the director and assistant directors. Rules and regulations may be amended or updated as needed. The director can suggest changes anytime to “Alice’s Rules and Regulations”. All suggested changes will be reviewed and voted on at the next “Board Meeting”. It is the responsibility of the resident to adhere to and understand the rules and regulations. Alice’s staff will only ask one time that a task be done or a rule followed. Insubordination will not be tolerated. Repetitive rule violations will not be tolerated, and are grounds for immediate dismissal.
It is the responsibility of each resident to inform staff of any situation beyond the residents’ control that could cause an infraction of these rules. If any type of problem arises, concerning you and another resident or anything concerning Alice’s, it is the responsibility of the resident to bring it to the attention of the house director.
The rules and regulations are defined in three sections:

GENERAL CONDUCT
|
LENGTH OF STAY
The normal term of participation is 180 days to two years. During the first 72 hours in the house there are no visitors allowed with the exception of an approved sponsor. Within the first seven days of participation, an essay, consisting of at least 100 words will be written and handed into the house director, relating how this experience (coming into the house) has effected the participant’s personal growth.
PARTICIPATION FEES
Provisions for the payment of program fees must be made for the resident’s length of stay. The weekly fee is $75.00 to $150.00, depending on ability to pay, which is due no later than 10:00am Saturday of the residing week. A non-refundable, non-transferable screening fee is due prior to the screening appointment for admission into Alice’s. The fee is $35.00; it may be paid by cash, local check or money order, made payable to "Alice’s Inc". Participants are responsible for all program fees associated with their stay at Alice’s.
EVALUATION and TERMINATION
Weekly each resident appears before the Progress Committee for evaluation concerning her stay at Alice’s
Automatic termination offenses are immediate the director or assistants can issue write-ups on non-adherence to rules. If the resident has an issue with the write-up she can present her case to the Progress Committee.
SPONSOR
A person participating in this program is required to have an approved, local, active AA or NA sponsor within two weeks, or termination of stay will be effected. This sponsor may be a temporary sponsor; a more permanent sponsor may come along in the future. All conversations with your sponsor are confidential; the staff’s primary concern is that you have meaningful discussions. If you cannot get along with your sponsor, and need to change, you may do so. You must provide staff with your sponsor's name and turn in to staff a signed sponsor sheet each week.
WEEKEND PASSES
All passes will begin on Saturday and after the weekend chore has been completed and inspected and end at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. The request for a weekend pass must be presented to staff for approval by Thursday, to be eligible for a pass, a resident must have thirty (30) days of residency at Alice’s by the Thursday prior to the day of the pass. If a resident is working any shift on a Saturday, she must return from work before signing out on pass. Resident’s passes are a privilege, not a right. Passes depend upon your actions during the preceding week and your plans for the pass. When signing out on pass a phone/contact number must be given to staff, failure to provide a number may result in the pass being withdrawn. Residents who have been granted passes are encouraged to use them, however residents who choose to remain at Alice’s are welcome to do so and will adhere to all house rules and regulations including curfew and chores.
DATING
If you are in a relationship upon entry to Alice’s, it may continue, as long as it does not interfere with your recovery. If you are not in a relationship at the time of admission, you may not enter a relationship for the first year of residency.
CONDUCT
Program participants are not to make any “twelve step calls ". Residents are not to fraternize or socialize where alcohol and/or drugs are being served or used. Residents are not to enter bars or liquor stores at anytime, for any reason.

HOUSE RULES
|
VISITORS
Visiting hours are from 11:00am to 9:30 pm. Guests are allowed in by resident’s invitation only. Guests are not allowed in resident’s rooms for any reason. Guests will be asked to leave during meal times and house functions and groups. No visiting of a romantic nature is allowed
RESIDENTS and STAFF ROOMS
Residents are not permitted in other resident’s rooms when the occupant is present. Residents are not permitted in staff rooms.
MEDICATIONS
Any medication in your possession, prescription or otherwise, must be turned over to the house director.
APPOINTMENTS
All appointments must be listed on the appointment form in the daily logbook. Staff must be notified of any change to appointments.
CURFEW
Curfew hours are 10:00pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:45pm Friday and Saturday. Lights out will be one hour after curfew; lights out includes radios and all electrical supplies. Residents are required to be in bed at this time, not preparing for bed. Residents are not to leave the house after curfew and before morning meditation except to go to work. Residents on pass may return after curfew for explainable emergency circumstances only – this would be an unusual exception
HOUSEHOLD DUTIES
All residents will be assigned a specific house chore to be completed in the time-frame designated on the chore list description sheet.
- Chores must be done as described and completed before 10:00 pm unless other time is stated.
- Each resident must initial the chore list on the kitchen bulletin board upon completion of their chore.
- Each resident is ultimately responsible for completion of their assigned chore and will be help accountable if the chore is not completed and/or done well.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE & DRESS CODE
A resident is to keep her personal appearance neat and be dressed in normal street attire throughout the waking hours. Clothing with drug, alcohol, or bar advertising or any demeaning slogans are not permitted. Shirts and tops are required to have sleeves. Hats, or other forms of head wear, are not to be worn inside the house. Shoes or sandals must be worn at all times. Personal hygiene is expected, and if necessary, it will be addressed by staff.
ELECTRICITY & TELEVISION
Residents are to turn off all lights, fans, radios, water and appliances when finished using them or when leaving a room for an extended period of time. Watching television is only allowed between 6:00pm and curfew Monday thru Friday, and 7:15am thru curfew all day Saturday and Sunday. Recovery and step tapes may be viewed during the day with permission from the house director. Residents are not permitted personal televisions in their rooms. Special arrangements may be made for children’s use of a television and VCR.
MEALS
Residents are to prepare their own breakfast and lunch from set menu items. A family style sit down dinner will be served; all residents are required to sign up and eat dinner unless the house director has approved other arrangements.
All residents will participate in evening meal preparation as assigned.
- Residents will be assigned for weekly dinner preparation.
- Residents will plan menu for assigned meal based on food available in the house at the time of menu planning.
- Menus must be submitted to the office each Monday between noon and 7:00 pm. Menus will be reviewed by Monday night. Staff and residents will be told of any changes needed.
- Dinner will be served promptly at 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 5:00 on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Each resident is responsible for her own breakfast and lunch preparation and clean up.
- Kitchen closes at 6:00 pm. Use of paper plates and microwave is allowed after 6:00 pm.
- Non-residents are not permitted to eat at the house.
WAKE-UP/SLEEPING
Residents are to be awake and downstairs by 7:00am for the start of morning meditation each weekday morning. Residents must be dressed in normal street attire, not in the clothes you slept in. Sleeping during the day is not allowed.
ROOM and COMMON AREA INSPECTIONS
Residents must make their bed by 9:00am. They must keep their rooms neat and clean. Residents are not permitted to hang anything on the walls. Never use nails or tacks on the walls or ceilings. The staff at their discretion will make daily inspections. If it is deemed that there is an infraction of the rules as a whole, or the house is found to be dirty, ALL weekend passes will be suspended.
PHONE CALLS, BEEPERS AND CELL PHONES
Residents are not allowed to have, or use beepers or cell phones, unless it is required for your job. A written and verified statement from your employer will be required. The resident unlisted telephone number is nnn-nnnn. Only residents are allowed to give out this number.
- Length o f each phone call – maximum of 10 minutes.
- The resident phone is always answered by the residents, with HELLO.
- Residents are not allowed to give any information about another resident on the resident phone.
- Residents must get resident receiving call and/or take a message and put it on the telephone bulletin board.
- Residents may use the telephone from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm daily.
- Long Distance phone call must be made with a “calling card”, long distance calls are not allowed on the resident phone.
LAUNDRY
Residents are responsible for their own laundry. The washer and dryer are not to be used before 9:00am or after curfew. Laundry is not to be left unattended, and machines are to be cleaned out after every use. The last load may start at 9:00pm Sunday thru Thursday and 10:00pm Friday and Saturday. House issue sheets and towels must be washed weekly. Laundry is for residents and staff only.
HOUSE ENTRANCES
The front door is to remain locked at all times. The front door is only used as a fire exit. Residents are not permitted to answer the front door for any reason. Residents are to use the back door or side door only, to enter and exit the house.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Residents will make themselves available to the House Director on their appointed day to do their progress report. Residents are to bring their Meeting verification sheets and their signed sponsor sheets and turn them in at the time of the report.
RULES and REGULATIONS REGARDING CHILDREN
GENERAL CONDUCT
Rules and regulations are the view of the House Committee for Alice's and are enforced by the director and assistant director on Duty. Parents are expected to make sure their children are aware of the rules when age appropriate and are to work with the staff and residence to be sure they are enforced. Mothers will be expected to comply with these rules and help the staff enforce them with their children. Discussions need to happen between all the above when rules are broken so children can be taught and consequences can be agreed upon. If this appears to not happen it would be a staff decision to ask that resident and child(ren) to find other living arrangements.
EVALUATIONS
Every week each resident will be asked to review the behavior of their children along with their own program. Demerits may be given if there has been lack of control of the child due to poor parenting skilled. Parenting classes are available and need to be used for the betterment of all the residence. Number of demerits given to equal termination will be at the desecration of the director based upon the offense and how a family is working toward correcting the problem.
PROGRAMS FEES
Provisions for the payment of children being a part of their mother's program may be based on the amount of space taken. Any additional fees will be known up front from the beginning of the stay related to the child.
LENGTH OF STAY
The normal term of participation is 180 days to 2 years. Children under 6 are invited to stay that whole time. Past the age of 6 when originally taken in before six will be considered on an individual basis according to behavior and willingness to work with staff.
SPONSOR
Children are not expected to have a sponsor however would be expected to work with staff and residence to cooperate with the whole. A buddy system is recommended.
WEEKEND PASSES
Children may leave with their mothers on a weekend pass with the same rules applying to their return. Children may be excused for a week end pass with the non custodial parent or other approved adults. This adult must approve of the guidelines for their visit and return. They are:
- Staff must know who and where they are.
- Caretaker must comply with they law.
- They must return the child at the promised time.
DOCTORS
Participating children must have a family doctor arranged by the mother. Emergency care needs to be agreed upon with the mother and staff before the child can begin the stay.

RULES and REGULATIONS REGARDING CHILDREN

PROGRAM CONDUCT
Children are to be supervised at all times. Visits with a friend or visits from a friend must be cleared with staff ahead of time.
BEING IN OTHER RESIDENTS ROOMS
Children are allowed to visit other residents if that resident wants to visit only. Knock first.
MEDICATIONS
Medication will be kept by staff. Prescription or otherwise must be turned over as they are acquired.
REQUIRED GROUPS
The mother is responsible for making arrangements for the child to attend required groups. Children are to be in designated, supervised area during the adult required meeting times. During outside meeting times the mother is expected to make appropriate arrangements. i.e.; approved by staff.
CURFEW
Curfew will be decided between the mother and staff with age appropriateness in mind.
HOUSEHOLD DUTIES
Children are encouraged to pick up after themselves and help with chores as is age appropriate and capable.
FRONT OFFICE
Children are expected to stay out of the front office unless invited.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND DRESS CODE
Children are expected to be fully clothed with shoes on when outside of their apartment. Personal hygiene is expected and taught by the parent.
ELECTRICTY AND TELEVISION
Children are expected to allow the adults in charge of them to make the decisions of appropriateness of electrical appliances and TV.
MEALS
Mothers are expected to supervise any meals their children have.
WAKE UP/SLEEPING
Mothers are expected to have reasonable expectations about this as discussed and agreed upon by staff.
LAUNDRY
Children are to be supervised in this area by the mother or an arranged person agreed upon by all.
FRONT AND BACK DOOR
Children are to only go in and out of the back door. They will be expected to be with an adult or approved by an adult.
ROOM AND COMMON AREA INSPECTIONS
Children are expected to be present during room inspection. They are to learn their responsibilities in the process of cleaning and daily care of their own personal space.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Children are to be available but not necessarily present at the time of their mother's progress report. If staff needs to discuss any behaviors with them they are expected to have an open respectful attitude.
